 The annual parade features marching bands from local schools, marching cultural performers, floats from area organizations, businesses and thousands of marchers from all segments of the Broward County community with banners and showcasing the vision and ideals of Dr. King.

King Holiday Multi-Cultural Festival
Monday, January 16, 2023 – 10:30am – 3:00pm
Joseph C. Carter Park, 1450 W. Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale

Immediately following the King Holiday Parade, everyone is invited to enjoy a day of multicultural activities at the King Holiday Multi-Cultural Festival in Fort Lauderdale.  The Multi-Cultural Festival will feature headliner, “Raw Deal Band 954” and a  variety of multicultural performances, ethnic foods and other cultural offerings that will highlight the rich cultural diversity of our community. This fun-filled day will allow every attendee to learn a little more about the unique and beautiful ethnicities that exist in our community.  The Multi-Cultural Festival will honor the spirit and ideals of Dr. King and the civil rights movement.

MLKCC TEEN SUMMIT | TRAILBLAZER AWARD
Saturday, January 14, 2023 – 9:30am to 1:30pm
African American Research Library and Cultural Center
The students explore such pertinent issues such as social justice and how they can use their voice to change their communities.  The summit includes local celebrity appearances – cultural performances. Featured during the summit event is the presentation of the Annual Youth Trailblazer Award. This annual award program seek to honor and acknowledge local youth who are making a difference in their lives and in their communities in the tradition of Dr. King.
TEEN OPEN MIC
Teen Open Mic is a monthly event for youth within the age range of 10-21. Youth from around the states, as well as from countries participate in Teen Open Mic. This event provides a platform and a safe space for youth to display their talents through the arts but also an opportunity to learn from experienced artists, writers, engineers, stage production, etc. Lastly, every youth will be able to compete for a sponsored cash prize and other tangible items.

Day of Service - Thursday, 1.12.23

Location: Various schools

MLKCC’s Day of Service provide opportunities for students to participate in meaningful community service projects that emphasize the theme of “a day on and not a day off”.  This year, students from various high schools throughout Broward County will be invited to create and implement projects to positively impact the surrounding community. Community service hours will be given to all those who participate.

African American Research Library and Cultural Center
Destination Friday: Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. King and HBCUs

Is hosted by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee (MLKCC) and the Friends of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. It is a reception-style adult gala celebrating the legacy of Dr. King. Music, dancing, entertainment and a premier drink. This event is for ADULTS ONLY

BIRTHDAY PARTY
Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 10am
African American Research Library and Cultural Center
In partnership with the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, First and Second grade students take a field trip to the African American Research Library and Cultural Center for a Dr. King birthday celebration.  In addition to customary birthday celebration that include birthday cake and ice cream, students are exposed to Dr. King and his great works with hands-on arts and crafts, a museum tour, storytelling, cultural and/or multi-media presentations.
