THE KING HOLIDAY 2019 MLK PARADE AND UNITY MARCH
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee, Inc., is proud to announce that they are accepting applications for the 2019 MLK Parade and Unity March. The event will be held on Monday, January 21, 2018. The parade line-up will begin at Lincoln Park, 600 NW 19th Avenue, located on the corner of Sistrunk Blvd., and NW 19th Avenue at 8:00 a.m., and the parade will begin at 9:00 a.m. all in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
The parade will end at Esplanade Park at 400 S.W. 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, Fl. 33312. Esplanade Park is located adjacent to the Broward County Performance Arts Center (BCPAC). The parade and vendor applications may be downloaded from the organization’s website- www.kingholidaycelebration.com.
Applications must be received by Monday, December 31, 2018. There is a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee each vehicle entry and must be paid by money order or cashier’s check to Dr. MLK Celebration Committee, Inc. (MLKCC) and mailed to P.O. Box 122063, Fort Lauderdale 33312. The Orientation for all parade and vendor participants and volunteers will be Wednesday, January 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 33311.
The parade will be followed by the Celebration of Unity Multicultural Festival on Monday January 21, 2019 at Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale. The Celebration of Unity will honor Broward’s heritage of inclusiveness, along with the spirit and ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by highlighting the rich cultural diversity of Broward County through music, dance, art, spoken word, storytelling and more.
International, cultural and ethnic organizations are also invited to display native and cultural artifacts, garb, artwork and foods. Vendors wishing to sell international, ethnic or cultural merchandise and food are invited to participate in the Festival’s International Marketplace.
